1st stop: Lighthouse of Saint Theodore

The lighthouse of Saint Theodore is a famous landmark of Argostoli and well worth a visit. It is located on a man-made peninsula close to the town. The white, 8 meter tall lighthouse with Doric elements is a romantic spot, ideal for stunning photos.

Katavothres Water Sinkholes

2nd stop: Katavothres Water Sinkholes

Katavothres is a geographical phenomenon which happens where the sea water rushes through the rocks at the shore and disappears underground only to resurface at the Melissani Lake cave on the other side of the island, roughly 15 kilometres away. This unusual phenomenon was discovered in 1963 when some purple dye was added to the water and then appeared in the cave 2 weeks later.

St. George's Castle

3rd stop: St. George's Castle

The castle of Saint George was built on a vantage point in Peratata outside Argostoli in the 12th century BC by Byzantine Emperors. The perimeter of the walls, completed in 1504, is 600 metres. This Castle was the capital of Kefalonia before Argostoli was made the new capital in 1757.
