Quick View
Enjoy a full day in and around the bustling town of Argostoli. Our first stop will be at St George’s Castle, which was built on a vantage point in Peratata outside Argostoli in the 12th century BC by Byzantine Emperors. Next stop will be Bosset bridge, a spectacular stone bridge over the sea with a length of 900 meters, which offers an idyllic atmosphere and the perfect promenade for you and your company. After that, we will head to Katavothres, a geographical phenomenon which happens where the sea water rushes through the rocks at the shore and disappears underground only to resurface at the Melissani Lake cave on the other side of the island, roughly 15 kilometres away.
The Lighthouse of Saint Theodore, not far from Katavrothes, will be our next stop. It is a famous landmark of Argostoli and well worth a visit. It is located on a man-made peninsula close to the town. The white, 8 meter tall lighthouse with Doric elements is a romantic spot, ideal for stunning photos. Afterwards, we will visit Gentillini Winery, and here, we will offer you the chance to try their limited edition of wines, along with a tour around the premises. Last but not least, we will give you some free time to explore Argostoli. We will be at your disposal if you need recommendations for local restaurants and/or cafeterias so you can make the most out of your time here.

Detailed Itinerary

1st stop: St George’s Castle
The castle of Saint George was built on a vantage point in Peratata outside Argostoli in the 12th century BC by Byzantine Emperors. The perimeter of the walls, completed in 1504, is 600 metres. This Castle was the capital of Kefalonia before Argostoli was made the new capital in 1757.

2nd stop: De Bosset bridge
The English army officer and governor of Kefalonia De Bosset inspired the construction in 1813 and it was the British who built it. It is the largest stone bridge over the sea with a length of 900 meters. During the Italian and German domination it suffered a lot of damage from the bombings but still remained intact. Today, it offers an idyllic atmosphere and the perfect promenade for you and your company.

3rd stop: Katavothres Water Sinkholes
Katavothres is a geographical phenomenon which happens where the sea water rushes through the rocks at the shore and disappears underground only to resurface at the Melissani Lake cave on the other side of the island, roughly 15 kilometres away. This unusual phenomenon was discovered in 1963 when some purple dye was added to the water and then appeared in the cave 2 weeks later.

4th stop: Lighthouse of Saint Theodore
The lighthouse of Saint Theodore is a famous landmark of Argostoli and well worth a visit. It is located on a man-made peninsula close to the town. The white, 8 meter tall lighthouse with Doric elements is a romantic spot, ideal for stunning photos.

5th stop: Gentilini Winery & Vineyards
No trip to Kefalonia is complete without a visit to the Gentilini Winery & Vineyards where passionate people make exquisite wine. Here we will offer you the chance to try their limited edition of wines, along with a tour around the premises.
